Turning Anime Aesthetics into a Visually-Appealing Menu

Overview:

A personal project with the purpose of creating concept for a stylish pause menu based on the anime Michiko & Hatchin.

Inspiration

This project was inspired solely by my memories of the anime Michiko Hatchin, and thinking about how that aesthetic might translate to games in the same vein of Persona and Danganronpa.

Style Guide

The color palette, in particular, was inspired by the official art of one of the characters and their hyper-stylized color scheme. I channeled that aesthetic and aimed to create an appealing and fitting combination.

UI Components

The assets I created for this are clearly based on firearm imagery, and draw inspiration from Danganronpa. I also developed a halftone effect that further stylizes the overall screen.
